about
Set in the old west of 1880, Dr. Whitman and his traveling Medicine show roll into another small town ripe for the picking. Circus like music and atmosphere set the townspeople buzzing.
“Step right up, come one come all” the Doctor calls.
He has miracle medicine, he has the cure all. Enticed by the promise to end what ever ails them the townspeople enter Dr. Whitman’s feel good world with a taste of his elixir.
The magic drink starts to flow. The show begins with oddities scurrying and entertaining, refilling glasses as a happy haze sets in to the sounds of laughter building and glasses clinking. Euphoria.
A twisted creature scurries. A woman startles. The hairs on the back of her neck take note. Dr. Whitman says pay no mind to his little friend. Paranoia.
The elixir overflows greedy drink glasses.
Screams for more turn frenzied. Claws and scratches. Creatures and people. Evil or hallucinations? Cries of terror overwhelms the crowd as devils screech in chorus, lethally calling. One by one, guests fade into blackness.
The morning sun rises in the foggy field. Husbands and wives, friends and neighbors rise dazed and confused while many more lay lifeless and gone. All pockets and handbags empty, the aftermath of meeting “Pepper’s Ghost”.
Riding on his wagon on a dusty road many miles away now, he closes his lock box full of jewelry, watches and cash. From the back of the wagon a faint choir sings softly, “To All The Believers We raise a toast, now you’ve met Pepper’s Ghost.”
On to the next town.
lyrics
Pepper’s Ghost
Verse 1
Step right up, come one come all
Get your ticket we’ll have ourselves a ball
Have a drink shows starts at nine
Guaranteed to blow your mind
Chorus 1
Leave it to me, for a small fee
I’ll take away your broken dreams
For all the believers, I raise a toast
To our friend Peppers ghost
Verse 2
You feel wonderful or so it seems
Peppers pulling on your puppet strings
Blissful music all in your head
I’ll empty your pockets and leave you for dead
Chorus 2
You pay the price, I’ll take your tears
Hide away with smoke and mirrors
Whisper to me what you fear most
It’s time you meet peppers ghost
Slow Breakdown
Left it to me, for a small fee
I took away your broken dreams
You got to see what you fear most
Now you’ve met peppers Ghost
Final chorus
You left it to me, for a small fee
I took away your broken dreams
For all the believers, I raise a toast
To our friend Peppers ghost
You paid the price, I took your tears
Hide away with smoke and mirrors
Whisper to me what you fear most
Now you’ve met peppers ghost
